JUNE 9-18—BC Shellfish & Seafood Festival. It’s shucktastic! The BC Shellfish and Seafood Festival, the largest in Western Canada, is celebrating its 11th year. 11 days of non-stop tours and charters, seafood chef demonstrations and tastings, gala dinners, educational seminars and contests celebrating British Columbia’s seafood producers, industry and bounty. JUNE 17—Comox Valley Motorcycle Ride For Dad 2017. The mission of the TELUS Ride For Dad is to raise funds to save men’s lives by supporting prostate cancer research and raising public awareness of the disease. We raise funds through large scale one-day motorcycle, snowmobile, watercraft and ATV ride events and through ongoing public fundraising. JUNE 22-24—Miners Memorial Weekend. For 32 years the Cumberland Museum has co-hosted an annual commemoration of fallen workers, highlighting labour history and contemporary labour issues. AUGUST 4-7— 35rd annual Filberg Festival. This is one of the largest festivals on Vancouver Island, with a huge lineup of artisans and performers to keep the entire family entertained. AUGUST 12-13—The Denman Island Studio Tour offers a rare glimpse into the creative spaces of island artists. Come for the day, or spend the weekend exploring 17 studios against the backdrop of Denman’s rural charm. Visitors will find works in a wide range of media, including painting, photography, wood carving, fabric arts, jewelry, pottery, sculpture, and mixed media.Since subject matter and style are varied participating artists are very happy to answer any questions about process, inspiration, and technique.
